Stacey Lawson Announces Mendocino County Leadership Cabinet

Community leaders unite in support of Lawson’s campaign for 2nd Congressional District

(San Rafael, CA) — Educator and small business owner Stacey Lawson announced the formation of her Mendocino County Leadership Cabinet today in her campaign for Congress.

The diverse group of community leaders uniting in support of Lawson’s campaign to create middle-class jobs include:

Mary Anne Landis, Mayor of Ukiah

Mari Rodin, Former Mayor of Ukiah

Bruce Burton, Mayor of Willits

Ron Orenstein, Willits City Council Member

Jim Little, Laytonville Fire Department Chief

Calvin Harwood, Laytonville School Board President

Mike Anderson, Mendocino Farm Bureau President – Fort Bragg

Michael Braught, Mendocino Farm Bureau Vice President and Long Valley Market owner – Laytonville

Jody Cole, Wild Rainbow African Safaris, and Katharine Cole, Victory Campaign Board member – Ukiah

Art Harwood, Triple Bottom Line Solutions – Branscomb

Jim and Barbara Hurst, Business Owners – Fort Bragg

Judith Bailey, Bailey’s Incorporated – Laytonville

Chris Neary, Attorney at Law – Willits

Steve Zuieback, Founder & CEO of Synectics – Ukiah

(Note: Titles are for identification only.)

Ukiah Mayor Mary Anne Landis said, “Stacey Lawson is the candidate who can help us make more in Mendocino County. Along with her strong business background and great people skills, she’s energetic and focused on promoting sustainable solutions to issues we face around economic development. She’s just the woman we need to represent us in Washington.”

Lawson grew up in a rural community on the coast of Washington State. She watched her father start a small trucking business from a single truck he drove himself and lift their family into the middle class. A student of public schools who became a chemical engineer and then went on to graduate from Harvard Business School, Lawson has started small businesses, run major departments inside large companies and created hundreds of jobs.

“When I was young, we lived in a trailer, but my mom and dad dreamed of a better life for our family — they worked hard, they took risks and we all succeeded,” said Lawson. “I’m running for Congress because I believe in that dream for all American families.”

Lawson also co-founded and teaches at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at UC Berkeley and started a company that created technology to help U.S. manufacturers compete in the global marketplace — and keep middle-class jobs in America.

Lawson has released a detailed middle-class jobs plan, available at www.StaceyLawson.com and Amazon.com: Making More in America: How Restoring America’s Manufacturing Strength Can Help Rebuild America’s Middle Class.

North Coast Young Democrats Endorse Stacey Lawson for Congress

Candidate for 2nd Congressional District continues grassroots momentum

(San Rafael, CA) — Educator and small business owner Stacey Lawson announced the endorsement of the North Coast Young Democrats today.

“Stacey Lawson was the only candidate to really address the issues we support in our policy platform. Our members are energized by a progressive Democrat who has a message that really speaks to young people,” said Patrick Sullivan, Campaign Director for the North Coast Young Democrats.

North Coast Young Democrats is affiliated with California Young Democrats and Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee. Its mission is to develop, support and sustain a network of local young Democrats in their efforts to raise the awareness of pressing issues and help mold the future of the Democratic Party.

“I look forward to working with the North Coast Young Democrats to rebuild America’s middle class so that their families and every family in America can benefit from the opportunities that mine did,” said Lawson. “I am honored by their support.”

Lawson, the only candidate in the race with real-world experience creating jobs and helping small businesses grow, has published a detailed plan to create middle-class jobs – Making More in America: How Restoring America’s Manufacturing Strength Can Help Rebuild America’s Middle Class. The plan is available at www.StaceyLawson.com, iTunes and Amazon.com.

Lawson grew up in a rural, coastal community in Washington State and moved to northern California after college. She watched her father start a small trucking business from a single truck he drove himself and lift their family into the middle class. A student of public schools who became a chemical engineer and then went on to graduate from Harvard Business School, Lawson has started small businesses, run major departments inside large companies and created hundreds of jobs.

Lawson co-founded and teaches at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at UC Berkeley, and started a company that created technology to help U.S. manufacturers compete in the global marketplace — and keep middle-class jobs in America.

(San Rafael, CA) — Educator and small business owner Stacey Lawson has won the endorsement of the Mendocino County Farm Bureau in her campaign for Congress.

Mendocino County Farm Bureau joins Sonoma County Farm Bureau in endorsing Lawson’s campaign.

Mike Anderson, President of the Farm Bureau said:

“Stacey has leadership skills, real-life experience and a fresh perspective to take to Washington. Mendocino County Farm Bureau wanted to support a candidate that understands the balance that is needed between agriculture, local resources and rural communities within the district to get our economy back on track. Stacey is that candidate.”

Mendocino County Farm Bureau currently represents 1,300 members comprised of traditional, organic and biodynamic farmers, as well as small businesses and supporters of agriculture. Multiple generations of local families have been Farm Bureau members and want to continue the heritage of being stewards of the land and providing food, fiber, fuel and flora for generations to come.

The health care law faces resistance by some who position the law as unnecessary regulation whereas others see it as a way to help small businesses cut costs while protecting jobs, wages and profits.

It’s important to remember some of the law’s benefits. For example, according to the Small Business Majority, “small businesses would pay nearly $2.4 trillion over the next 10 years in healthcare costs for their workers; 178,000 small business jobs, $834 billion in small business wages, and $52.1 billion in profits would be lost due to these costs.”
