Creating Jobs to Restore the American Middle Class

At a time when the California has the second highest unemployment rate in the nation, working and middle class families are seeing the American Dream fade away. Stacey is fighting to create economic opportunity for the millions of hard-working Californians who are being squeezed out in these tough times.

Small businesses create 85% of the jobs in America – and for the last 17 years, Stacey has been involved with creating dozens of small businesses, all of which have generated jobs in northern California.

In Congress, Stacey will fight for policies that increase investment in American small business, such as making big banks pay back their bailout funds faster and reinvesting more of the proceeds into small business loans. Read More

Investing in Education: It’s Worth Fighting For

Of all the candidates in this race, Stacey Lawson knows best that educational opportunity is worth fighting for in Congress. It is what allowed her – the daughter of a truck driver, raised in a trailer in a rural, blue collar town  – to become a chemical engineer, go on to Harvard Business School, start successful small businesses and create hundreds of jobs.

That’s why Stacey has worked so hard to help deliver the promise of education to others. Stacey co-founded and teaches at the University of California’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at Berkeley. The center helps equip engineers and scientists with the skills to lead, innovate and commercialize technology and cleantech projects including wind, solar, electric vehicle, green home services and other job-creating innovations. LGBT Equality

Equality is a fundamental American value – and Stacey is a forceful advocate for full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

Stacey will fight to win the freedom to marry for same-gender couples, repeal the so-called “Defense of Marriage Act” (DOMA) and put an end to marriage discrimination in the states and the federal government. She will work to end discrimination in a wide range of areas – from discriminatory immigration policies that tear families apart to discriminatory policies that deny same-gender couples the same health, retirement and family leave benefits available to different-gender couples.Read More

Women’s Equality

Supporting and empowering women has been central to Stacey’s work throughout her life. Stacey knows that the engaged leadership and participation by women across all sectors of society (government, business, social, etc.) are essential to creating a thriving, sustainable and just world.

We must ensure women’s rights are not constantly under attack, and as a Congresswoman, Stacey will fight for these rights so women can focus on what really matters to them: jobs and a strong economy so they can provide for their families. Read More
