Congress Hopefuls Visit Del Norte

Three candidates for the Congressional District 2 seat discuss their plans for improving health care, the local economy and harbor dredging, among other topics. Lawson cites her Progressive political beliefs combined with her experience in business and economics as solutions to these problems: “I’m a progressive Democrat with 20 years of experience in the economy.”

“When Marin County resident, entrepreneur and UC Berkeley professor Lawson took center stage, the key word was economy. Lawson said her business career has prepared her to create jobs, “change the tone in Washington,” and bolster bi-partisanship.”

Local Dems Nix Endorsement for Congress in June Primary

After hearing pitches from about two-thirds of the field of Democratic hopefuls for the new 2nd Congressional District seat, members of the Windsor Democratic Club voted 7 to 3 Saturday not to endorse any one candidate.

“We have multiple qualified candidates,” said former Healdsburg Mayor Jason Liles, a Democratic club member. “It seems better to let the voters decide.”

A San Rafael woman is the fifth person to enter the race for the 6th district congressional seat held by Rep. Lynn Woolsey, who has announced she will retire from Congress when her 10th term ends in 2012.  Stacey Lawson, 40, has recently devoted herself to philanthropy after concluding a financially lucrative business career helping manufacturing companies tailor their operations for the Internet.
